There was news of Honda Pakistan bringing in and registering a 1.5L Honda HR-V aka Honda Vezel in Pakistan. HR-V and Vezel are basically the same vehicle and only the name and some features differ depending upon the region of the launch. The vehicle is a hybrid since the 1.5L engine is a dead giveaway. The non-hybrid HR-V comes with a 2L naturally aspirated engine.
And now that potential launch candidate has been spotted on the roads going through road testing here in Pakistan. Here are the photos.
It appears this is not the HR-V that was imported in Pakistan before since that one was Lunar Silver. This however looks maroon. From some of the photos, it appears the car is being preped for a photo or a video shoot.
The idea is to launch a hybrid vehicle considering the popularity of Honda Vezel which is a Japanese imported compact SUV. Honda Atlas has already tried launching the bigger engine variant of HR-V but it bombed badly. With this 1.5L engine, Honda Pakistan will be able to position the new vehicle at a much competitive price point since the taxes will be lower. And also the hybrid vehicle gets preferential treatment on top of that.
Combine that with local assembly, and you got yourself a potential winner.
