The rumours are that the new Suzuki Swift 2022 is about to be put up for display for the public sooner than expected. Last month it was hinted that Pak Suzuki is eager to bring out the new hatchback since the previous iteration of Swift has run its course and bookings and sales were so low that it wasn’t feasible for the company to keep it in its catalogue anymore. Pak Suzuki is hoping for a revival of its premium hatchback category with the new Swift.
There already is a leaked clip of Pakistan assembled Swift rolling off the assembly line at Pak Suzuki’s local manufacturing plant. Most of the older companies like Honda and Suzuki believe in keeping everything hush hush and not really let the consumers in on the new car launches; unlike Changan Pakistan, the kid on the block that believes in sharing its successes and new launches with the its customers. Honda Pakistan does not even let people see the product and opens the bookings with it actually being on the showroom floor which is arguably a seriously questionable practice.
Keep in mind we won’t be getting the face uplifted model that is available in other markets. We will, like it has always been with Pak Suzuki, only be getting bare minimum features. Suzuki internationally offers a lot of safety features as well as driver aids, and you can expect Pak Suzuki to not have any of those in local Swift. Basic features like ABS and power steering are most you can expect. Look at the locally made Alto, you can see all the covered up buttons and switches on the dashboard of the car that are actually working options in imported Alto JDM.
One thing is for sure, the car is coming with Suzuki’s new 1.2L engine. The previous 1300cc engine was infamous for bad fuel economy. The new engine is definitely a massive upgrade in this regard. This also means lower governmental taxes as well.
If you are looking to book one, well the good news is that Pak Suzuki will be opening the booking in a couple of weeks according to industry insiders. But keep in mind that the price of the new Swift might not be as friendly for a hatchback you think it will be. The top of the line AGS Cultus 2022 costs 2.4 million now. The new Swift is rumoured to be priced from somewhere between 2.7 to 3 million dispensing upon the variant. Pak Suzuki is not going to price it close to their other top seller, the Cultus, and let one product cannibalise the other successful product.
