Chery cars will be available in Pakistan as soon as June 2022, confirmed today by Ghandhara Nissan Limited’s notification to its stakeholders through Pakistan Stock Exchange. Ghandhara Nissan and Chery joining hands and launching new cars in Pakistan has been in the news for some time now. Both companies announced at the start of this year that they will be investing more than Rs2 billion in the local automobile sector in a bid to introduce Chery cars in Pakistan.
But this letter to PSX kind of makes it official, and turns rumours to an authentic news. The notice also states that Ghandhara Motors is “currently engaged in pre-launch tasks” regarding the launch of these new vehicles. Those pre-launch tasks include
…establishment of dealership network, modernization/upgradation of plant infrastructure, marketing, and supply chain activities.
Although the notification does not mention any specific Chery model, it does specifically mention an SUV by Chery Motors. So if we have to guess, maybe it’s something small like Chery Tiggo 2. Chery Pakistan Facebook page has been heavily teasing various vehicles by the company including different SUVs as well as sedans.
This news is adding to the fact that Pakistan’s auto sector is becoming vibrant and lively. After recent companies like Kia, Hyundai, and Changan, and new companies like Peugeot announcing the immediate release of their vehicles, Chery’s cars will also be noteworthy by bringing more options to Pakistan auto consumers.
Chery is a state-run company and is one of the top-ten biggest Chinese automakers and has been in operation for a little over a couple of decades now. The company mostly makes passenger and light commercial vehicles. Jaguar is one of Chery’s most prominent strategic partners out there where Chery assembles Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles in China for the British company.
