Chinese 7-Seater Showdown – Glory Pro vs Oshan X7 vs Tiggo 8

Chinese crossover SUVs are invading Pakistan’s auto sector and every other day you see something new on the roads. Only recently Changan Pakistan launched its Oshan X7 crossover SUV. And the latest one is Tiggo 8 Pro by Chery Pakistan. Chery is a Chinese carmaker who has signed a joint venture with Pakistan’s Ghandhara Nissan Limited (GNL) and has started assembling and selling Tiggo 4 and Tiggo 8 crossover SUVs.

It is the battle between carmakers to offer most features at the most competitive price. In this blog, we will be talking about 3 of the Chinese SUVs that offer the most amount of seatings along with the most features. It is the showdown between the Chinese 7-seater SUVs. So let’s start.

Exterior and Dimensions

I am not going to talk about the beauty aspect of these cars since it is all subjective and it all depends on the taste of the people. You might like one car but hate the other two and similarly other person has the totally opposite opinion. So let’s leave the visual aside and talk numbers. Here are the measurements of all three SUVs.

Length Width Height Wheelbase Ground Clearance Weight

Glory Pro

4680 mm 1845 mm 1715 mm 2780 mm 200 mm 1570 kg

Oshan X7

4730 mm 1870 mm 1720 mm 2876 mm

Tiggo 8 Pro

4722 mm 1860 mm 1705 mm 2710 mm 194 mm 1565 kg

Oshan is the biggest of these three. Tiggo 8 has the shortest wheelbase. Having a bigger wheelbase usually means more interior space for the passengers. Having a wheelbase of 2876 mm means Oshan X7 offers the most amount of room inside. Also, a longer wheelbase has a massive impact on the overall driving characteristics of the car as well.

I couldn’t find any reliable information on the Oshan X7 ground clearance and its weight. I guess Changan doesn’t find it “necessary” to share those numbers with the people.

You get 19” alloys in Oshan X7, and 18” alloys in both Glory Pro and Tiggo 8. Tiggo 8 Pro also has the widest tyre at 235/55. Rest of them are 225/55.

Both Glory and Oshan come with a 1500cc turbo engine. Glory is the least power of them all. In fact, poor thing is probably the least powerful of all the SUVs in the segment. Glory Pro’s 1.5 turbocharged engine makes around 145bhp and 220 Nm of torque. Real battle is between Oshan and Tiggo.

Oshan’s 1.5L turbocharged engine makes 185 bhp and class-leading 300 Nm of torque. The 1.5L turbocharged inline-4 engines are a pretty standard formula for almost all Chinese cars.

On the other hand, the Tiggo 8 comes with a 1.6L direct injection turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that makes 195 bhp which is the most in the Chinese SUV segment and 290 Nm of torque. Good thing about Tiggo 8 Pro is that those twin exhaust outlets at the back of the car are actually functioning unlike in many other cars where they are fake and actual exhaust is usually tucked behind the rear bumper including the Oshan X7.

The Glory comes with a CVT whereas Oshan and Tiggo come with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission.

All of these are front-wheel drive cars so do not expect any real off-roading capabilities. A Mehran might outperform you in some tricky situations so keep that in mind.

Interior and Features

Well one this is for sure, Chinese carmakers really know how to make the interior of the cars. If you look at other Chinese cars like MG and Haval as well, all of these vehicles have such nice interiors. They not only look modern and sophisticated, but are also beautifully made. Between these three 7-seaters, Glory Pro has the simplest looking interior of them all. Both Oshan X7 and Tiggo 8 Pro look great from the inside, and feel like a pretty nice place to be in. So both Oshan and Tiggo are pretty close and it only comes to personal preference.

It all comes down to the offered features. Let’s start one by one and see what each vehicle has to offer.

Glory Pro

The DFSK Glory Pro 580 comes with 4-airbags, stability and traction control, ABS with BA and EBD, hill assist, TPMS, electronic parking brake, radar, panoramic sunroof, auto wipers, 360 camera and 9” multimedia display, i-Talk intelligent voice control system, heated and electronically auto retractable side mirrors, parking sensors, smart and keyless entry, steering controls, 6-speakers, 6-way driver and 4-way passenger electronically controlled seats, to name a few.

Oshan X7 (Comfort Package)

Oshan X7 comes in two variants, the 5-seater FutureSense and the 7-seater Comfort. FutureSense 5-seater has more features and costs more than the 7-seater Comfort package. Since we are only talking about the 7-seaters, therefore we will only be mentioning the features of the Comfort package.

The Oshan X7 Comfort comes with features such as 360 cameras integrated into heated and auto retractable side mirrors, rear parking sensors,4-airbags, ABS with BA and EBD, TPMS, electronic parking brake, hill hold and decent, traction and stability controls, cruise control, smart entry, push start, different drive modes, panoramic sunroof, driver is 6-way electronic and passenger seat is 6-way manual adjustable, dual zone digital climate control, and 10.25” multimedia head unit with different connectivity options and 6-speakers, to name a few.

Tiggo 8 Pro

6-airbags, auto dimming headlights, adaptive cruise control and radar, 360 cameras integrated in auto retractable side mirrors, parking sensors, massive panoramic sunroof, digital climate control and all three rows get their AC vents, 6-way driver and 4-way passenger electronically controlled seats, 10” multimedia screen and 8-speaker Sony system, 3 driving modes, stability and traction control, echo-idle, ABS with BA and EBD, downhill assist, TPMS, electronic parking brake and auto hold, smart and keyless entry, steering controls, collision detection, lane departure, blind spot monitoring, and Tiggo 8 Pro also comes with voice command what can help you do some basic functions inside the car.

Glory is least equipped whereas other two are neck and neck and come loaded with features to the brim.

Here are the current prices of all these three Chinese 7-seater SUVs.

DFSK Glory Pro

Rs. 5,040,000

Changan Oshan X7

Rs. 5,750,000

Chery Tiggo 8 Pro

Rs. 6,599,000

Considering the specs and features, and overall value for money aspect of these three, Changan Oshan X7 definitely takes the lead here. You get far more bang for your buck by adding 700k to the price of Glory Pro and going for Oshan instead of adding 850k to the price of Oshan and getting Tiggo 8.

So this was a brief rundown of 7-seater new Chinese vehicles in Pakistan. Let us know which do you think is the better option and which one would you spend your money on. Until then, happy motoring!
