Since SUVs are all the fad lately, the previous price of X70 SUV was extreme aggressive and competitive. It was a bargain for something of quality vehicle like the X70 actually is. And since the start of full-fledged local assembly of Proton cars in Pakistan now, the company foresees a sales jump in the near future. It was only a matter of time before Al-Haj would have increased the price of both X70 models.
The company saw some heavy criticism when it failed to deliver vehicles on promised times and had to extend deadlines multiple times. The delivery times turned from months to even years for some customers. The local assembly of both their cars will now hopefully won’t face the same situation.
Proton X70 is also a lucrative buy considering it has a 1500cc engine and the newly proposed tax on vehicles having 1600cc and above engine won’t affect it, albeit there is a 2% tax on all vehicles being priced above 5 million PKR.
Al-Haj Proton has become the first one to increase the prices of its cars after the economic chaos of the last couple of months. It is possible the company’s decision to increase the prices of their cars will become a domino effect and other automakers will soon follow suit.
